An incredible historic monument at the gateway to Fleur de Loire
The Fleur de Loire hotel is in the heart of Blois, with its impressive and diverse heritage. The churchyard of Saint-Saturnin is steeped in history and shares a past with Fleur de Loire’s beautiful building. In fact, the hotel was once a hospital which bordered this resting place and the church of Saint-Saturnin.
The churchyard of Saint-Saturnin is one of the last five monuments of this kind in France. It will soon benefit from renovation works, at an estimated cost of €2,000,000, as part of Stéphane Bern’s efforts to restore and preserve French heritage.
The astonishing structure, the four galleries, the fireplaces and the various paintings tell the story of Blois from the Renaissance to the Second World War.
Given its unique nature, the renovation work will be complex and will involve improving the building and all the stones stored in the lapidary museum.
The authorities plan to reopen the site and the lapidary museum to the public in 2026.
Fleur de Loire wants to contribute to this extraordinary project. As such, the City of Blois will organise a prize draw at the end of its fundraising campaign with the chance to win a night for two people, including breakfast, at the 5-star hotel Fleur de Loire.
You too can contribute to this laudable project.
